Mazorin

Marzorin, Pune
In seven years my brother, Chirag, has grown from an almost-boy to an almost-man. My nani lives in Pune so we go there often to visit her. I like this bakery there, Marzorin. The food has gotten less tasty over the years, but the ambience is just-as-lovely.

pepper chicken

Home, Mumbai
A while ago, a friend Pooja posted this simple recipe on facebook.
-----------------------------------------
Pepper Chicken in exactly 5 steps!!!
  1. Heat oil in the pan and saute ginger, garlic, and curry leaves.
  2. Then add chopped onions and saute till the onions are transparent
  3. To this, add pepper and then the chicken and salt
  4. Add a little water so the masala can get into the chicken
  5. Cover and cook on medium flame for 20 - 25 minutes.
-----------------------------------------
Instead of curry leaves, I added cherry tomatoes and no water.

self-arranged

i wonder if the new trend in marriages is self-arranged marriages?

it's different from love in that you don't fall in love with the person first, decide they're the one, and then get married

and it's different from arranged or arranged-love where a family member or friend introduces you to him or her and then you date some before you decide if they're the one, and then get married.

self-arranged is where you meet someone when you are of marriageable age and do all the assessing on your own
and then say, i know i don't love you and were just friends and all, but you seem to fit the bill so let's spend some time together, and maybe, three of four dates later, you decide if they're the one, and then get married.

i think i'm really on to something here. the self-arranged marriage.

Indian Ocean

Last night, I went for an Indian Ocean concert. The last Indian Ocean concert I went for was in 2002, and I think that's the last time they played here in Mumbai. The band was then Susmit (guitar, vocals), Asheem (tabla, tarag, vocal, other percussion), Rahul (bass guitar, vocals), and Amit (drums, gabgubi, recorder, other percussion). Asheem passed on last December (of a heart attack), and most thought that the band had lost their "soul" with Asheem. They've added two members to the band since then: Chakravarty (tabla) and Joshi (vocals). They have a long way to go in "fitting into" the image of the band. Although a bit off key in some songs, Indian Ocean certainly still has the power to stir an audience.

"Closure"

I.
it seems that i like to hear harshness
i'm almost addicted to provoking
harshness out of you

it's not enough that i know it
and i that feel it
i like hearing the words
i do not love you
hearing them tear my insides
feeling them travel down my throat into my belly
up to my heart
and dissolve in my blood

i then like to cut myself
and watch the blood seep
out of me. out of you.

II.
i used to have this notion of love
where love wasn’t harsh
where my heart would skip a beat
to beat with your heart
and together, heart-to-heart
we’d beat the harshness
out of you. out of me.

Big Joke!

Life really is like one big joke now-a-days. It's like god said, taking Johny didn't throw you into enough depression, here I'll take V's dad too. That should really throw you off the bend.

I think his plan is working.

The irony of the relationship between technology and idleness

One of the purposes of everyday technology (mobiles, laptops, etc.) is to make us more efficient. But we rarely use our 'freed up&...
