Instead of "Go Green" let's "Make Green", yeah?

I'm not a nice person when I don't sleep

I don't look into the stars to search for the possibility of more men. I look into the stars to search for the possibility of no more men.

"The Oceans That Fill Our Universe" #1 Coincidence

Today, I went through the Hindu units of time for comparison with modern cosmology:

It's impressive that modern science starts counting time from 10^-43 seconds and this time cycle started at 10^-7 (one-tenth millionth of a second), a truthi. According to the Vedas, our universe is cyclic, and we're now in the  51st year of Brahma, where 1 year of Brahma = 3 trillion years as we know it. Going further back, this also means that the cycles of our current universe started 155 trillion years ago (yes, that's 155,000,000,000,000 years ago). The time since the big bang so far is calculated as 14 billion years, making our current universe a little infant. But wait, who gave birth to Brahma?

According to legend, Brahma is the creator of the universe and is born from the navel of Vishnu as he is lying on the great serpent, Ananta in the milky ocean.

When I was a child, I always heard the elders talk about 'Kal Yuga', which also features in the Hindu cosmological timeline. Surya Siddhanta, a descriptive foundation of Hindu calendars and much much more, tells us that the infamous Kal Yuga began in 3102 BC as per the Julian calendar. Indian literature represents Kal Yug as a time of turmoil or dark conflict (5000 down, 400,000 more to go!). The beginning of Kal Yug rather conveniently coincides with the birth (or death) of a number of civilizations (source: random internet article). Historians have documented this period as the Early Dynastic period.

I'm going to look for more coincidences in these time scales.

Another Silent Revolution

over the last few years, i've seen more and more of my friends really following their gut and making a new society. a more spirited one.

this post is simply a tribute to this silent revolution.
you are my super stars, today's dreamers:

my wish for the world right now is community living. think about village communities and all they had to offer. think with few words and more feeling. think of the possibilities and think of what we're doing by closing our possibilities.

i've done it. closed possibilities by shutting myself in cubicles, behind money, behind relationships, behind religion. and now i'm doing something else. i'm thinking about slowing down. i'm thinking about opening up.

come, let's take a journey through history together. and i don't mean the last 2000 years. i mean the last 14 billion years. let's swim in it like ferns. come, let's open our universe.

over the next few months, i'm going to try and use this blog as a platform to translate my thoughts into words and share the past, present, and future.

love and peace,
jaya, universe opener
